Now that the various winter sales are done our wallets can take a breather. Though for myself I was able to save my already empty wallet the trouble by harvesting various Steam trading cards and selling them. I picked up for myself System Shock 2, Orcs Must Die! 2, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition. In addition the games Steam and GOG gave away adding the awesome Left 4 Dead 2, and the trilogy of original Fallout titles. Add in a gift from a friend and I was able to add to my collection Titan Quest, Rise of the Argonauts, Unreal Tournament 2004, GTA III, Risen, and Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition. All that without having to pay a dime…of real money that is. I made off like a bandit.
How many games did you pickup? And the other question that always follows the Steam purchase, how many do you actually plan on playing? How has the Steam sales and other tempting sale purchases like the Humble Bundle’s increased your backlog on the PC platform. For me it has created quite a long list. That is why one of my new years resolutions is to tackle that backlog and playthrough all of the excellent games I have, but haven’t actually played yet.
Dorkly has posted a new comic offering an answer to tackling that backlog that is extreme to say the least, but a solution none-the-less.
So list off in the comments all the games you picked up over the winter sales and where you got them, whether it was Steam, GOG, GMG, or Gamergate etc. Plus what are your new years resolutions in gaming? Tackle the backlog? Play games of a different genre than your used to? Let me know in the comments. Game on in 2014 everyone!
